Our Mission

Beyond the Classroom's mission is to expose children and young adults to people, places and things they would not normally or easily have access to in their daily lives.

By providing unique, educational and positive experiences, we empower youth to see the world outside of their classrooms and neighborhoods, grow hope in their future, pursue active roles in society and achieve goals.

Services

Our youth have so much to offer to the world - we believe in the power that they hold, and know that they will mold future generations to come. At Beyond the Classroom, Inc., we are here to give them the support they need in order to shape them into leaders of the future.

We have a number of educational programs and leadership initiatives that help nurture our youth and help them develop the skills they will carry throughout their lives

Our Experiences

May 8, 2020

The Butterflies Girls were truly inspired by EmauniJ, a 7 year-old who started S.A.K.E. (So All Students Can Eat).  She raised over $5,000 to provide lunches for students in need.  We are so thankful for video technology that allowed us to still meet even though schools are closed due to the pandemic.

Earth Day!  We believe in educating youth on the importance of loving and protecting the planet!  Since we were in quarantine, we did a drive-by and dropped off Earth Day goody bags to local children.  We hosted a virtual Earth Fun Day on Zoom!

Girl Scouts Night Out!  We had an awesome time at Disney on Ice at Capital One Arena in DC.

March is Women's History Month!  This was the topic at the February Meeting for the Butterflies Mentoring Club.  Sharon Parker, a local historian and motivational speaker presented several women who played a role in history and played Women's History Jeopardy with the girls....they had an awesome time playing and learning!
